Copier not waking or not responding

A blank screen, buttons that do not respond, the “Reboot the machine.” message and a copier that restarts by itself each have their own action. Check the lamps and any message on the touch panel, then use the matching section.

The copier seems to be off, or its screen is blank

A blank touch panel can mean the copier is asleep, may not have been switched on, or may not be getting power. Before pressing anything, look at two things on the control panel, the MAIN POWER lamp and [ENERGY SAVER]: which of them is lit tells you what to do next.

Both the MAIN POWER lamp and [ENERGY SAVER] are lit, but the screen is blank

The copier is asleep (Sleep or Super Sleep mode). Press [ENERGY SAVER] to wake it.

Only the MAIN POWER lamp is lit

The copier may not have been switched on. Press [POWER]. If it still does not start, contact your service provider.

No lamps are lit and nothing happens at all

  • The power cable may not be pushed fully into the socket. Push the plug in until it stops.
  • If the copier still won't start, contact your service provider.

“Saving energy – press Energy Saver button.” is shown

The copier has gone into energy-saving mode because it hasn't been used for a while. Press [ENERGY SAVER] to bring it back.

Never try to repair, take apart or modify the copier yourself. The manufacturer warns that doing so could cause a fire or an electric shock.

If the problem continues, contact your service provider. Tell them your model name and the exact wording of the message on the touch panel, plus any error code shown.

Buttons don't respond, “Reboot the machine.” is shown, or the copier restarted by itself

Work through the checks in order. First check the energy-saving message and the lamps: in an energy-saving or sleep mode, press [ENERGY SAVER]. If the buttons or touch-panel icons still do not respond, there is a shut-down action. The “Reboot the machine.” message has its own, different action.

Buttons or touch-panel icons still do not respond

  • A system-related error has occurred. Hold down [POWER] for at least 5 seconds to shut the copier down.
  • If the problem continues, contact your service provider.

“Reboot the machine.” is shown

For this message, press [POWER], then [Restart] on the touch panel.

The copier restarted on its own

Auto-recovery restarts the copier when it detects a memory or operating fault. If the copier has returned to normal, you can carry on using it as usual. If the problem continues, contact your service provider.

Match the action to what you see: if the buttons or touch-panel icons still do not respond, hold [POWER] for at least 5 seconds; if “Reboot the machine.” is shown, press [POWER], then [Restart]. Don't swap them.
